Horse-groomer, daughter of a mustachioed carpet salesman, Bradford-lass – people have been making assumptions about Alex her whole life. Who gives a flying fig though? Alex is now one of our country’s best tech success stories.
In 2014, she co-founded Hassle.com, Europe's largest domestic cleaning marketplace, growing it to over £8 million across 4 countries in under two years, then selling it for €32 million. Today, Alex is the co-founder and CEO of Resi, the UK's largest residential architectural firm focusing on using technology to help solve our country’s housing problem through residential extensions and renovations.
Alex is a non-executive director of Persimmon Homes (2023-), one of the largest homebuilders in the UK. For four years (2017-2021) Alex sat on the board of London LEAP, chaired by the Mayor of London, which is responsible for £100m+ investment into London culture & communities. In this position Alex advised, scrutinised and gave strategic input into key programmes including the London C-19 Recovery Programme. She also co-authored Labour’s “Start-Up, Scale-Up” report (2023) and was part of the Governments taskforce on Women-Led High Growth Enterprises (2022-23).
Educated at the University of Nottingham and the University of Chicago, Alex started her career as a consultant for Accenture in the UK, where she focussed on the Retail and Energy sectors. She rose quickly through the ranks before her desire for a new challenge led her to take the leap into the world of entrepreneurship. A passionate and long-time advocate for female entrepreneurship, in 2016 Alex was awarded an MBE for services to the sharing economy.

Alex is happy to share her experiences of being a woman in technology, disruptive and innovativetrends such as the gig economy or artificial intelligence, and closer to her heart how the construction industry and wider public discourse has failed to understand what homes need to be healthy and happy.
